FUNDRAISING IN WILTSHIRE

Next Show
Sunday 13th June 2010

In 2006 the Bowood Charity Dog Show and Summer Fair was established to raise much needed funds for charities that were in need of financial help.

This year was the fourth year of the event; in the first year the show had 1,500 visitors growing to 10,000 in 2008. Sadly, due to both the weather and the economic downturn, this dropped to 4,000 in 2009. Despite this, over that four year period, the show has raised almost £100,000, which is a magnificent effort.

Charities, like many businesses today, are suffering from lack of funds and as a result of this event, the donations are helping them during these difficult times and hopefully will be able to continue to do so.

The photograph below shows Lady Lansdowne with some of the charities who received donations as a result of the 2009 Show. Some seventeen charities benefited to the sum of just under £25,000, they included:

  • Macmillan Cancer Support
  • Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust
  • Age Concern 60th Appeal
  • Springboard Opportunity Playgroup
  • RNLI
  • Rub a Dub Pre-School
  • Wiltshire Blind Association
  • Headway Bath
  • Dorothy House
  • PDSA
  • Wiltshire Air Ambulance
  • North Wilts Holiday Club
  • Wiltshire Army Cadets
  • Wiltshire Air Cadets
